PayPal Screwed My Moneymaking Campaign

47 comments - Post a comment

I'm really sad when I have to abandon something I worked so hard and spent a great deal of my time on, but it happens to me so often I got used to it. My previous post about internet connection problem is nothing compared to this...

Right after I solved the connection problem, I went on to create an account with PayPal. Soon as I did that, I realized my moneymaking campaign has come to an end (for now). Even though I'm eligible to send money, I can't receive any money through PayPal. I think my country banking policy doesn't allow it, not the other way around.

Why am I screwed?

The majority of top notch moneymaking programs hold PayPal as their only payment solution which means I can't use them and what's more important - I can't write about them. Blogging about money requires me to write about as many programs and accompanied strategies to make money from them. So as I said - I'm unable to do that.

Being unable to use a lot of profitable moneymaking programs makes it almost impossible for me to turn this blog into a life supporting income generator (AdSense and ReviewMe aren't enough, ask John Chow). This forces me to look for other means of making money and forget about this blog for the time being.

The Future?

From what I know, I figure there are only 2 plausible ways for me to continue writing on this blog, and they are:

1) PayPal makes it possible for me to receive money.

2) Sites like PayPerPost make it possible to get paid by a check.

Present

From now on I won't be posting on this blog, until one of the 2 statements above come true. Nevertheless, I would be happy if you're willing like to guest post here. I haven't been blogging for the past 10 days and my traffic level didn't drop to much and my RSS readership is still the same! You could use a bit of extra traffic! Contact me if you're interested.

Prevent yourself from being screwed by PayPal

If you want to sign up and receive money through PayPal, find out if your county is eligible for payment by clicking here.

Remember - I'm not quiting this blog, I'm just going on an extended vacation until (hopefully) some things get settled, so don't kick me out of your RSS readers. After all, there could be some great bloggers guest posting here in the future! Good bye for now...

That's tough! Without paypal, you can't even sell it!

Alex - June 20, 2007 9:41 PM

Yeah. As I said, maybe one day...

Matt Jones - June 20, 2007 11:20 PM

Alex how did you receive payments before? Has PayPal suddenly changed their policies?

I hope you will find a way

RageX - June 21, 2007 12:10 AM

You can't get the cash to your bank account but it still stay on your paypal account which is the same that happened for me had to call the bank and such.

Basically you buy things from ebay meanwhile using the cash deposed on your Paypal account.

Goonie - June 21, 2007 4:45 AM

paypal doesn't allow my country to accept money from there, only could send money through paypal. How sad.

Cheers,

Goonie

Hi, Added a new value add to my blog this weekend - a news widget from www.widgetmate.com. I always wanted to show latest news for my keywords in my sidebar. It was very easy with this widget. Just a small copy paste and it was done. Great indeed.

Trew Life Advice - June 28, 2007 3:31 PM

That's got to SUCK MAJORLY! I am just now wrapping my mind around other forms of making money on my blog instead of just Adsense. I feel like I got lazy waiting for them to pay me something. WE GOT HUSTLE, I suppose.

i would think that paypal is so huge that it's only a matter of time before they expand their area of influence... stay strong, good luck dude

Comfy - Educational toys - July 1, 2007 4:10 PM

don't stop. keep on building up so when paypal will get to you, you'll earn big time.
have you tried moneybokers?

torrent search - July 2, 2007 10:26 PM

Well one option would be to have someone who has a paypal account sign up to the programs you are talking about and have them send you the money for a fee. If they don't send the money then you take out their code and try someone else. Of course you are risking losing some money but it might be worth it.

Robb - July 4, 2007 8:50 PM

torrent search and I had the same reflex idea! You should be partnering with someone who can handle your paypal transactions, and for their small time and effort commitment, receive a modest commission. I'm sure there are tons of people out there who would love to partner up under those circumstances.

Raz - July 5, 2007 6:20 AM

You have same problem as me. My country is blacklisted, and i just use paypal to pay my hosting.

Freaking Paypal. so are there any other services that you can use. Paypal should have a referral service since they can not help you.

azies - July 7, 2007 3:30 AM

yes I think Paypal is still the best internet payment gateway.http://www.dressforwomen.blogspot.com/

kristine sacro - July 7, 2007 3:22 PM

paypal sucks, for me

kevin - July 7, 2007 7:37 PM

yeah it is a little hard to deal with them since they are the main place where people pay out now

Mark@CreditCards - July 8, 2007 3:32 AM

This is sad. I have had a lot of troubles with paypal too. They have given me issues to yell about. Best of luck with your situation

Christy - July 9, 2007 4:49 AM

I was wondering where you went. That really sucks. I never even thought about not having PayPal. You're right, everywhere but adsense they pay by PayPal, even most affiliates. I think Amazon pays by check but like you said a couple of places isn't enough. Hopefully there will be a solution for you soon, best of luck. :)

Cade@BusinessOpportunity - July 10, 2007 8:35 PM

Don't give up! You've got a good thing going here and there has to be another solution. I'm sure you'll get it figured out.

Patrick - July 11, 2007 2:10 AM

That sucks dude. I can't believe you can't find a way around this. There has to be another service you can use. What about Google's new payment service?

Michael - July 11, 2007 5:06 AM

Dang that sucks. What country do you live in? Do you not have the option to receive checks from all money sources?

Baron Smith - July 13, 2007 8:59 AM

I had problems with paypal too when I made too many purchases and received too many in one day...
however, it has now been resolved.
Here is a new way to monetize your blog even without clicks and they send cheque (not paypal) :-)

kumowai - September 11, 2007 12:33 PM

Hi, nice to meet you. There is a way to solve this but it will need a bit of work. First, find out which country that is close to you that enable paypal to transfer money to the local bank. Then take a trip to that country to set up a bank account. Of cause you must do a research to see if the bank allows you to do that and the document required. Search for a virtual office for that country and use the address provided. Open another Paypal account on that country with the address provided. Then you are able to transfer the money to your own bank. Paypal(new) -> Bank(new) -> Bank(Hometown). An example of a country that lets you do that is Singapore. Of cause you need to double check the info before you take any action. Terms and condition changes according to time.

education blogger - September 18, 2007 10:28 PM

That's rough. I've heard of tons of people who have this same problem. Online businesses can be great for people all over the world since the internet really brings everything together... but, when issues like this one prevent some people from being able to monetize their sites, it really hinders things. It's too bad because I would like to have read about your experiences with other types of monetization.

Shoppers Source Solution - September 19, 2007 8:06 PM

I did manage to cash out my sales money from PayPal although Paypal did not support my country (Malaysia). Thanks to http:/www.malaysiapal.com/?e=shopperssolution@gmail.com

Acne - November 28, 2007 12:41 AM

Im not suprised. Paypal has many problems. E.g the "track back" payment feature is totally corrupt. I know a lot of people who have given out a service that was required and paid for it, yet the person who has recieved it has used the track back and recieved it for nothing. And there is nothing the producer can do.

I have heard about problems with PayPal like this before. Unlucky mate. I would suggest contacting them or maybe using a friends account in another country.

Play arcade games - January 25, 2008 8:07 AM

clees3161 - February 8, 2008 11:03 PM

Lousy deal with pay pal man. I had a problem with it myself but of a different sort. Pay pal had my old email address listed as primary, even though I had at one point made a new email addy the primary one. So I got screwed out of a few bucks. I fixed it again but it gives me a reason to always worry about the transactions and whatnot.

7 dollar secrets - April 10, 2008 11:10 AM

we must be careful with paypal..

Danial Hughes - July 28, 2008 6:03 PM

I would suggest using a friends account too. That would be your best option. Just make sure you trust him lol.
