What's Best for You

The best affiliate programs are the ones you can integrate with content you are already writing. Therefore you don't have to make a special post for it, so it looks like an ad. You really want it to flow with the rest of the website. I would suggest finding one good affiliate program and stick with it.

Zac Johnson posted about Neverblue Ads, which is the affiliate network he uses. He reported that he was able to earn 10,000$ in a month with this program.

Apparently by integrating different affiliates and using PPC campaigns he made a truckload of money, all in one month. This doesn't include other services as well.

I use Neverblue Ads for several different websites. They specialize in freebie offers. There are also plenty of other programs you can use like diet campaigns such as Dual Action Cleanse, or dating like Matchmaker.com

How Readable Is Your Blog?

Few days ago I came across a cool website SEO tool called Website Grader. It calculates your Google PR, Alexa, Technorati Rank, Google Inbound Links, Yahoo Inbound Links, Delicious Saved Count, Google Indexed Pages and gives you a unique score (0-100). It's cool, but there are a lot more similar tools out there.

What caught my attention is a neat statistic that scores your blog's readability level. It's located near the end of the report:

Readability Level : ??? Grade

This score measures the approximate level of education necessary to read and understand the web page content. In most cases, the content should be made to be simple so that a majority of the target audience can understand it.

That's great, but is it reliable? Well, there is no explanation on the grade scoring algorithm so I fetched a few scores for other sites I on similar topics but with different writing styles and compared them with Website Grader scores. Let's see the results:

John Chow - 5th Grade
Shoemoney - 5th Grade
CashQuests - 6th Grade
Blogging Fingers - 6th Grade
DoshDosh - 11th Grade
Copyblogger - High School + 3 Year College
Problogger - High School + 3 Year College
Blogging Secret - Advanced Degree (PhD)

When you look at the blogs that have the same score, you'll notice they are indeed similar. Shoemoney and John Chow both have simple and easily digestible writing stiles (although Shoemoney doesn't give a damn about grammar). The same goes for CashQuests and Blogging Fingers. 5th and 6th Graders probably wouldn't be able to understand the content, but they could surely read it without spelling.

DoshDosh is also clean written but its approach is a bit more professional, business-like. That makes it necessary to have a little bit more education than the blogs mentioned above to read it.

Copyblogger and Problogger are also very similar and often regarded as sister sites. Their writing is quite complex. Higher degree of education is really necessary to read them with ease.

Blogging Secret is seemingly a typical make money blog, but once you start reading it, you'll understand why you need a PhD to comprehend its content. The grammar is simply horrible.

Final Verdict

Judging by the results, it's obvious that the Readability Level scoring is not just popping-up random results, it clearly can interpret how readable a certain site is. I also believe that slight increments in grades don't mean anything. What I mean is that it would be highly unlikely that a 5th grader would easily read through Shoemoney and then go to CashQuests and not be able understand a single word of its content.

I figure there is a span of 3 education levels you need to focus on when judging your blog's readability level.

1. Lower grades - Your blog is simply written and it's easy for readers to understand.
2. High School + College - Your blog's writing is complex and a great deal of your readers will struggle to comprehend it.
3. Advanced Degree (PhD) - Start taking English lessons.

Could this tool be of use to you?

If you want to judge someone else's blog readability level, this tool is worthless. You can be the judge of that.

When it comes to your own blog, it's very likely that you will lack the objectivity and misjudge your blog's readability level. In this case this tool will be helpful indeed!

I'm Baaaaack....!

When I wrote my farewell post some months ago, I stated that I'll only come back if two statements became reality, but unfortunately, they haven't. However, the is another fact I didn't account for... I'm crazy about blogging!

To elaborate, I gave up on blogging because of my crippled moneymaking possibilities (not being able to profit from PayPal and all that). I was frustrated at first, but I came to peace with it. You know - Sh*t happens. I came to peace with the fact that I won't be able to become filthy rich on the net, but as time went along I became miserable not being able to share my thoughts and knowledge (and vice versa) with other like and not so like-minded individuals... In other words, I missed blogging to much!

I'm coming back to blog, dollars are no longer my preoccupation, which takes a lot of pressure of my back. I believe there's a lesson to be learned there:

One that gets to consumed by making money, ends up loosing a lot more.

What can you expect from this blog from now on?

During the course of the summer I got employed and now my blogging time is quite limited. That means that Blog About Money Online is turning its focus from quantity to QUALITY! You can expect only top notch stories from now on...

...It's your lucky day. In this era of Wordpress powered self-hosted domains, Blogs with the .blogspot.com suffix are getting more and more underrated. Surely Wordpress has more gizmo's and gadgets and .com domains strike as more professional, but if you really make an effort, having a blogspot blog won't make too big of a difference.

What was I saying? Ah, yes. From now on this blog will serve as an example of what can and can't be accomplished with a blogspot blog, something like a prolonged case study so stay tunned, it will be exciting!

PayPal Screwed My Moneymaking Campaign

I'm really sad when I have to abandon something I worked so hard and spent a great deal of my time on, but it happens to me so often I got used to it. My previous post about internet connection problem is nothing compared to this...

Right after I solved the connection problem, I went on to create an account with PayPal. Soon as I did that, I realized my moneymaking campaign has come to an end (for now). Even though I'm eligible to send money, I can't receive any money through PayPal. I think my country banking policy doesn't allow it, not the other way around.

Why am I screwed?

The majority of top notch moneymaking programs hold PayPal as their only payment solution which means I can't use them and what's more important - I can't write about them. Blogging about money requires me to write about as many programs and accompanied strategies to make money from them. So as I said - I'm unable to do that.

Being unable to use a lot of profitable moneymaking programs makes it almost impossible for me to turn this blog into a life supporting income generator (AdSense and ReviewMe aren't enough, ask John Chow). This forces me to look for other means of making money and forget about this blog for the time being.

The Future?

From what I know, I figure there are only 2 plausible ways for me to continue writing on this blog, and they are:

1) PayPal makes it possible for me to receive money.

2) Sites like PayPerPost make it possible to get paid by a check.

Present

From now on I won't be posting on this blog, until one of the 2 statements above come true. Nevertheless, I would be happy if you're willing like to guest post here. I haven't been blogging for the past 10 days and my traffic level didn't drop to much and my RSS readership is still the same! You could use a bit of extra traffic! Contact me if you're interested.

I've Been Really Pissed Off These Days!

A while ago I was working on a post about the main reasons people quit blogging. If I had published that story, I would have missed out on a very important fact - computer trouble.

I took a couple of days off blogging last week and soon as I got back in the saddle, my freaking internet connection got totally screwed up. During the last four days it took an average of 2-3 minutes for some pages to load and a lot of them wouldn't load at all... and that's really bad considering my 1 Mbps DSL connection which normally allows my pages to load in 2-3 seconds.

This whole situation made it impossible for me to find time and nerves to research and write posts over these last 4 days. Everything looks good today and I hope it'll stay that way, because I don't think I can take it anymore:

Since I started blogging, ReviewMe is the latest revenue program I got engaged with, but it's the first one that actually paid me. My grand total now comes to $45. Not much, but it's just the beginning. This money comes from just one source, but I'll soon get involved with other programs such as PayPerPost and/or Sponsored Reviews and earn much more than $45! More income streams you have, more cash you earn!

Speaking of more income streams, my Google AdSense campaign made me more than $45, but I have a few more $ to reach the payout level. This is another proof that sponsored reviews are the most suitable revenue source for low traffic blogs.

ReviewMe Payment

All of these reviews came from the ReviewMe Marketplace which made me a bit sad that no individual advertiser was interested in getting a review on this blog, especially when it costs just $40. Nevertheless, ReviewMe Marketplace proved to have some solid offers ranging higher than standard $20 I would receive from individual advertisers. Those review offers are rarely found if you don't have a few tricks up your sleeves (I'll write about that in the future).

I could have made a substantially higher amount than $45 if I accepted every single marketplace offer, but I just couldn't do that. For example, I had a $30 offer from a certain stock trading website. I have a poor knowledge of the stock market so I just couldn't take the money. It's better to loose a few bucks than write crappy posts..

Agloco Forum - No Money Guaranteed!

Will Agloco make money? Some people say it will and some say it won't. Judging by the slow development of the viewbar, I suspect a lot of time will pass before we find out. But can you make money indirectly, by posting on a forum that talks about Agloco? Yes, you can - theoretically. With Agloco Forum you can make money by posting and referring new members, but there is one small problem - you won't get paid!

Why won't you get paid?

See for yourself:

Start a thread - $0.01
Respond to a post - $0.01
Refer a friend - $0.20

Minimum payout - $100

Now let's crunch some numbers... To reach the payout level, you need to write 10,000 posts. That means you'll have to write 27 posts each day for the next 365 days. The easier way to reach payment is to refer 500 people, or is it? Unless you have a huge family tree addicted to Agloco, it could be a decade before you get the cash. $100 is not worth going through all that trouble!

So what's the point of the forum's existence?

It's very clear that this forum was created out of personal interest, getting Agloco referrals. Agloco referral links are stashed all over the place. Another thing, if you sign up for Agloco through the referral link on Agloco Forum, you'll receive $5 when you create an account at Agloco forum. Forum's owner will have a shinny new member in his downline and the member will never collect his $5, for the reasons mentioned above.

Conclusion

It's clear that this forum is a pathetic scam because its owner doesn't have the slightest intention to pay people, he only wants referrals. The forum itself looks like a nice place for Agloco lovers to meet, socialize and share their experiences, but it has absolutely no moneymaking potential.

I found the forum through an AdSense which means that the owner actually spends money to trick people into joining Agloco. There are a lot of different (honest) ways to build a downline. Shame!

Blogger Spotlight: Mike's Money Making Mission

I have chosen one of my favorite blogs, and the very first blog I actively read besides my own. Mike's Money Making Mission is an excellent blog, and a great resource for those trying to make money online.

Who is he and What is his mission?

Mike retired after publishing several business opportunity magazines which he sometimes mentions in his blog posts. Now he poses the question "Is it possible to make money with free blogs?"

Earning Reports

If you are like me, you want to know how other bloggers are earning money so you can implement that on your own blog. Mike posts a weekly earnings report, that includes money earned, traffic received, and referrals and visitors gained.

Mike is now in week 34 of his money making mission. "The aim being to try and earn money, using only free blogs and without any capital outlay."

To date, Mike has earned 1,764.15 dollars. His first blog post was in September of 2006. So, that works out to be about 200$ per month, however he didn't make his first 100 dollars until week 6.

Biggest Earners and Referrals

Included in Mike's earning reports, he includes all the money he has made from different websites, and affiliate programs. Not only that, but you can find a post about each of these money earners. There you can decide if that particular program is right from you.

Looking to boost your traffic? Mike also includes his top referrals, including search engines, directories, and other blogs. Mike recently published his Top Ten Blog Referrers. That is actually how I became an active reader of Kumiko's Cash Quest.

Link Exchange Master

I am not much for link exchanges, I like to keep my blogroll's smaller. I didn't understand how many links Mike has until recently. Of course he is getting linked to because he is writing great articles, but he has also conducted a massive link exchange. Almost daily, he gets requests for a link exchange (now especially due to his PR 5).

By having such a desirable blog to get linked to Mike can essentially pick and chose who he wants to exchange with. The result? Tons of links to and from relevant blogs.

According to Technorati, Mike has 470 blogs linking to him, bringing him easily into the top 10,000 blogs, ranked 7,026.

Mike and I go back a long way, almost 9 months (I started blogging after him though). He posted a link love mentioning his first blogs he exchanged links with. I liked Mike's blog so much he decided to exchange links with me even though I had nothing to do with making money online.

After deciding to start Blog about your Blog, Mike was right there with me. He has been and always will be a valuable author, acquaintance, and friend to have in the blogging world.

I can honestly say Mike inspired me to become the blogger I am today. To try to earn money online, and make a real mark on the blogosphere.

John Chow Got Bombed By Google

I bet you heard about John Chow, a man that makes 5 figure monthly from blogging. I also bet you read his blog on a daily basis and most of you probably participated in his Review My Blog program. John started the program in hope of growing his traffic, but soon he realized its immense potential and started using it to get a high Google search rank for "make money online", which is a highly popular search phrase. It didn't take long before John climbed to the top position and he firmly stayed there, at least until today...

John stayed at the top for quite a while and I was surprised to see him drop to 38-th position over night.

To be make sure this was not a mistake I checked out John's position on Google UK - 42-nd position and Google CA - 12-th position. Although there may be numerous reasons for this massive drop, the most likely is so called "Google Bombing". If you don't know what Google Bombing is, there's a good explanation on Wikipedia.

Personally, I have nothing against the way John got the 1-st position for the phrase "make money online". It just demonstrates his influence and indicates that he deserves a high search result position, but it seems Google doesn't think like me. If this is true, it will be a long time before John Chow dot Com gets his first spot back.

P.S. A while ago John started a contest to win a Microsoft Zune hoping to get the number 1 position for the phrase "make money on the internet", and he did. Now he ranks 7-th for that phrase.

I must have read dozens of stories about accidental clicking and banishment from AdSense, and what I remember the most was this: "Every time you accidentally click on your AdSense ads, report it to AdSense or you'll get banned!"

According to AdSense official blog, reporting accidental clicks is totally unnecessary:

"Because we closely monitor all account activity using engineering systems and thorough human analysis, chances are we've already detected your clicks on your ads and discounted them. While these clicks still show in your reports, we filter out their associated earnings so that advertisers aren't charged."

A lot of people got banned from AdSense, but I'm sure non of them were banned for a few accidental clicks. I clicked on my ads twice 4 months ago and haven't notified AdSense about it - my account is still opened...

I got to hand it to MyBlogLog - It just keeps getting better and better! MyBlogLog is constantly adding new cool and useful stuff... the newest addition is tagging. Many of you know what tagging is, especially those who have experience with social bookmarking sites like Del.icio.us. So here is how tags on MyBlogLog work:

Introduction to Tags

"Tags are used to classify and identify an item. The difference in a typical directory classification though, is that tags are user-created, meaning YOU decide who gets grouped in whichever way suits you. You might 'tag' MyBlogLog as cool, social, blogs and friends. Or, you might tag it something less flattering. Sure, it would sadden us, but the tags you use to classify items are entirely up to you."

Due to the large member base (140,000 and counting), the biggest problem users were facing at MyBlogLog was finding like-minded people to socialize with - there was no clear classification system. After introducing tags, MyBlogLog has become highly relevant and its user can easily find members and blogs related to their niche.

How to Tag?

To tag, just enter your desired keyword and hit the "ADD TAG(s)" button. You can tag who ever you want with any keyword you like, including yourself. To see who tagged you, just hover over the tag. You can also look-up people who are tagged by the same tags you are. If you click on the money tag above, It'll lead you to the following page:

That's why Google will pay you to test out their products, both existing ones and those that are still in development so they can improve and enhance your user experience - It's a win-win situation! There are no strict rules for participating other than the 18 years of age limit. If you're 18 or older, read on...

How to participate?

The first thing you need to participate in the survey is to sign up. In the sign up form you'll notice that there are 4 ways to participate:

Usability study at the Google office - You will use a Google product or prototype, and give feedback on it. You could either meet one on one with a Google researcher, or work as part of a group. Most studies are done at Google's HQ in Mountain View, California, but there are offices all over the world - check them out.

Remote usability study - A Google researcher will call you while you sit at your computer, and ask you to try out a Google product or prototype via your internet connection, and give feedback on it. You can be anywhere in the world, but need to have a high-speed internet connection!

Field study - Google researchers will come to visit you, and interview you about how you use computers or the Web.

Online survey - you answer questions on the web or through email, from your own computer.

After you select the type of study, you'll need to answer a few simple questions like "how old are you?", "do you have a job?" or "what languages do you speak?". This set of questions will help Google determine if you're suitable to participate in the study. If you're not suitable, you'll get rejected.

If you do get chosen for the study, you'll make easy cash. Google pays you $75 for each hour you spend with a Google researcher, either in person or on the phone. Most studies last for one to one-and-a-half hours. Online surveys pay a little less, but they also take less time to complete. More surveys you complete, more cash you get!

John, Don't Forget Your Slippers...

John Chow writes about cars all the time - fast cars, expensive cars, custom-designed cars and even pink cars... So why wouldn't I occasionally write about, let's say, over sized bunnies with motors up their butts? Why not?!

Bellow you can see a (matching!!) pair of motorized bunny slippers. These little monsters are powered by a 36-volt battery and can reach a remarkable speed of 15 mph. If you're interested in buying this vehicle, I'm sorry - the bunnies are not destined for serial production.

I'd love to see John and Kumiko taking these babies for a spin :)

Buzz Bin Review - PR, Marketing And Other Stuff...

The thing I like the most about Blogosphere is its massive growth and the endless number of new good quality blogs entering the scene. That also makes me sad because a lot of those blogs get lost in the crowd and don't gain the popularity they deserve. A sure-fire way to prevent that from happening is to invest some cash in blog promotion. That's why I'm writing a ReviewMe review to help a blog named The Buzz Bin get more audience.

Buzz Bin Review

Buzz Bin focuses on various topics like internet marketing, PR, blogging, branding and other various subjects. The blog started in April, 2006 so it's already packed with content. Upon my first visit, I wasn't amused by the blog's design (which is, in my opinion, in need of thorough redesign), but I was impressed by the informative and professionally written articles. That's not surprising considering the people who write them:

Geoff Livingston - Entrepreneur, Writer
Communications and media expert, the founder of The Buzz Bin. Geoff worked as a marketing strategist in the Washington, DC region for 14 years. He creates marketing strategy, media relations, branding and Internet marketing campaigns for many public and private organizations. The Buzz Bin is Geoff's brainchild.

Michele Capots - Writer
Michele is a professional writer with over 10 years, working for various newspapers, magazines and trade publications. Her stories were published in some respectable magazines like The Washington Post, The Washington Post Magazine, Marie Claire.

Andrea Morris - Marketing Consultant, Copywriter

Few things that should be changed

The Buzz Bin is written by professionals, but the blog itself is far from looking great...

The image says it all. The header looks to plain and it's definitely in need of refreshing, they should ad some more sophisticated graphics or a picture to it. They should also change the blog's colors because they stand out too much and are a bit distracting.

The sidebar looks OK and the category section is easy to navigate, but the links section takes up to much space. They should create a separate page for links.

I have just one more remark. It says "complete feed" on their RSS button, but after subscribing, I noticed their feed is partial. The solution - they should either remove the "complete feed" text from the button or actually switch to full feed. Now they're just sending mixed signals to their readers.

Conclusion

Apart from its design flaws, I believe that The Buzz Bin is definitely worth reading because of its high quality, informative content. And if you are into internet marketing, branding or PR - don't miss it!

Daily Link Love Is Going Daily Once Again

Everyone who's been reading Blog About Money Online for the past month or so knows I've been on the edge of quiting blogging. Although I managed to find some time to continue, I couldn't focus on Daily Link Love anymore. I was lucky enough that Matthew offered to take over DLL, but unfortunately, Matt runs a number of other blogs so he couldn't post every day and posting everyday is what Daily Link Love is all about!

From now on I'll publish Daily Link Love every day and I hope Matthew will continue to contribute from time to time because he's done great job so far and I love having him as a guest blogger here!

Pay Per Digg Sites - How Effective Are They?

As long as Digg exist, a lot of people will (try to) game it. That's not surprising because Digg generates thousands of visits to a story that hits its front page, but unfortunately, it's hard to get there. Due to that fact, a lot of people are willing to use underhanded techniques to get to the front page, like paying for diggs and directly violating Digg's TOS. Pay Per Digg sites emerged on the internet few months before the end of 2006 and got a few stories dugg to the front page, but they also caused a huge number of Digg accounts being banned! Here they are:

User / Submitter
This very plain looking site offered its clients a place on the Digg's front page for only $21 - not bad for several thousands of visitors. But unfortunately, it didn't take long until Digg discovered the scheme and banned pretty much everyone involved. The site is still running so you're free to join, but don't come crying back to me when you get banned.

Spike the Vote
This site came after User / Submitter promising they have a "bulletproof" system which is virtually undetectable by Digg. That little story crashed soon and like in the previous case, all detected users got banned from Digg. The "bulletproof" Spike the Vote got sold on eBay for $1,275 (one dollar and 27 cents) and the domain name was donated to Digg.

Subvert and Profit
Unlike its predecessors, this site is still live and gaming Digg. It appears that their cloaking techniques function very well for the time being. Here are some of them:

- They don't link directly to Digg.

- They verify their users Digg activity through proxies.

- Their algorithm selects users to Digg a story based on how unrelated they are in terms of their Digging history.

- They hide the story you are paid to Digg in a short list of randomly selected stories that you will Digg as well.

These tactics are working so far but Digg could catch on to them eventually, so you never know when you'll get busted. It could be tomorrow, after a month or never... Who knows?

Even though Subvert and Profit is an illegal site, it offers a great source of traffic to bloggers who don't have enough "natural" resources to do it by themselves. $40 for 40,000 visitors - Why not?
I believe Digg should be more focused on preventing plagiarized, misleading and crappy stories from hitting the front page... I don't think you'll see many of those on pay per digg sites - no one would wast their money on a story that sucks!

Feedburner Subscriber Count Explained

I'm sure you know what Feedburner subscription count means, but do you know how it's calculated? I was trying to find that out ever since I started using Feedburner because I wanted to know if my subscriber count really represents the actual number of subscribers to my blog. I managed to find the explanation just a few days ago and I'm surprised it took me so long because the link to it is not that hard to spot, maybe it was added just recently. Now let's see how Feedburner explains its subscriber count:

"FeedBurner’s subscriber count is based on an approximation of how many times your feed has been requested in a 24-hour period. Subscribers is inferred from an analysis of the many different feed readers and aggregators that retrieve this feed daily. Subscribers is not computed for browsers and bots that access your feed.

Subscribers is calculated by matching IP address and feed reader combinations, and then using our detailed understanding of the multitude of readers and aggregators and bots on the market to make additional inferences."

There's a good and a bad thing about Feedburner's subscriber calculation. The good thing is that Feedburner doesn't count bots accessing your feed because if they were counted, the subscriber calculation would be way off. The bad thing is the word approximation which means that your subscriber count will never be completely accurate.

Another good thing is the calculation during just 24 hours because it excludes people who subscribe to your feed and never read it. If this wasn't the case, you'd have a substantially higher subscriber count, but it wouldn't be anywhere near your actual count!

This also explains why sometimes you'll see your subscribers dramatically drop. For example, when Feedburner email service goes down, all your email subscribers won't access your feed and your subscriber count won't show them until the next day.

Blogger Servers Play With My Nerves...

Warning - this is a rant inspired by my recent unpleasant experience with Blogger!

Yesterday I bumped onto the Google's error page a couple times while I was surfing my favorite Blogger blogs. It was nothing special, just a few minutes timeout, no reason for me to get upset and write a post about it. I'm writing this post because I encountered the same error again this morning, only it didn't last a couple of minutes - it lasted over 40 minutes!!

You might ask me why I'm so stressed about this, you've seen much longer server outages. Well, I'm stressed because Blogger usually schedules and announces server outages and they never last longer than 10 minutes, at least not since I started blogging!

You might ask me why I'm upset about losing (just) 40 minutes? It may not mean a lot to you, but during those 40 minutes I lost a number of new readers, I lost potentially valuable income from my revenue programs and what's worst - my blog didn't exist for full 40 minutes, and I don't want that kind of an image for this blog and myself as a blogger - being unavailable!

I'll end this rant with the hope of never seeing this image again...

Don't get me wrong - I love Blogger, but I hate its servers! 30 seconds... 30 minutes is more likely...

I submitted my blog to Text Link Ads on the same day I got accepted by ReviewMe, but I just couldn't install TLA's feed script. I tried over and over again, but I gave it up eventually - until today when I received an email from TLA explaining the whole issue:

Inflate Your RSS Subscriber Count - The Evil Way!

Feedburner's feed count chicklet (widget) is very popular amongst bloggers nowadays. It's almost like a symbol of blogger's reputation and influence in the Blogosphere (possible overstatement)! If you have a lot of RSS subscribers, new visitors will think highly of your blog and what's more important - a lot of them will subscribe to your feed!

If you're not satisfied with your subscriber count, there are many ways to increase it - some of them are honest, some are quite sneaky. The honest ways are writing great content, placing the RSS button where visitors can easily spot it, etc.

One of the sneaky ways is stealing someone else's feed count. You can learn all about it on the Net Business Blog, but you should know that getting involved with this scheme will eventually lead to you being treated as a con artist, lose your reputation and a lot of your (actual) readers!

Another way to inflate your RSS readership requires a lot more work, but there's no risk of getting exposed. The concept is very simple:

Inflate Your RSS feed count using Email

Most experts suggest that you don't display feed count unless you have at least 50 subscribers and I agree with them, although I think 50 is too low - I'd go with at least 100. If you have a new blog, you'll have a hard time getting through the process of reaching that magic 100 subscriber number. Now you can shorten the whole process using RSS email subscriptions! How do you do it? Open a lot of email addresses and use them to subscribe to your feed! It's easy but as I said before, it will require a lot of work. Well, maybe not if you already have about 80 subscribers, but if you start from scratch it'll take a lot of time - and nerves! Well, you could spare your nerves and ask several of your friends to help you out.

Personally, I'm against this strategy. I haven't used it and I won't use it in the future, I'm just telling you about it in case you're desperate to get a high subscriber count! This tactic will help you but it may get you banned by your email provider (depending on their terms of service).

I repeat, use this scheme only if you're desperate, very impatient or otherwise bored and have nothing smarter to do. You'll be better of focusing on providing good quality content and get your readers to subscribe to your feed naturally.

5 Reasons Why I'm Blogging

I've been planing to write about events that made me become a blogger, reasons why I'm blogging right now and why I'll keep on blogging in the future. I wouldn't write about it yet but I've been tagged so I figure this is as good time as any. For all of you who don't know what exactly this tagging stuff is, here's a quick breakdown:

A blogger writes a post about a certain subject and invites (tags) a few other bloggers to post about the same subject, link to him and tag some more bloggers of his choice. If you get tagged, there's no obligation for you to write the post, but if you like the topic - Why not accept!?

I've been tagged by Roseate of Internet Business Promotion, but I'll have to go against project guidelines and not tag anyone myself. Reason? Everyone I'd like to invite had already been tagged! That's about enough talking about tagging, let's get on with blogging...

5 Reasons Why I'm Blogging

1) Luck - There were a lot of connected events that led to my discovery of blogging. The first and most obvious is that I was lucky enough to be born in a time (century) when things like electricity, computers and internet exist. The second factor is that I have enough resources to afford a computer and internet connection - some people are happy to have a sip of watter every day (sad but true). I was also fortunate enough to learn that there's more to computers and internet than games, downloading music, movies and pictures. I soon realized that you can also make money on the internet. Wow, who would have thought of that? I'm a sucker for money so I started searching for various ways to make money online, but I didn't want to spend any cash in the process. Soon after I started my moneymaking search (thank you Google) I first read the famous word - BLOG! I was immediately drawn to the whole idea and concept of blogging so I decided to start my own blog (the one you're reading right now). In conclusion of this short 'e-autobiography' - The first reason why I'm blogging is pure luck, a big puzzle pieced together. You can also call it destiny!

2) Money - This is just one of the reasons why I'm blogging (a small part of my online goals), but when I started, only thing on my mind was cash, cash and - more cash! I believed I would be making thousands of dollars from the start, and if you know anything about making money online you'd know that's (almost) impossible. Now I'd be completely satisfied to have enough income from blogging to cover my monthly living expenses. Why not, I'm just 19 years old and I have loads of time and opportunities to become rich in the future!

3) Communication - One of the main reasons why blogging has become so popular is because of its huge interactivity. I spend several hours every day checking and answering emails or responding to messages on social bookmarking sites and forums I'm involved with (MyBlogLog, StumbleUpon, Digital Point Forums etc.). I also enjoy interacting with like minded bloggers by commenting on other blogs. One of the reasons why I'm blogging is the constant improvement by sharing my knowledge and receiving valuable feedback from other bloggers and getting a lot of new friends in the process!

4) Future - I'm striving to improve Blog About Money Online on a daily basis, to make it easier to navigate, to constantly improve the quality of the content, to improve my writing skills, to build up my readership, to gain more experience etc. I'm looking forward to the future because I believe the true success of this blog lies there! The future will make me become a better blogger and it will allow me to be more helpful to my readers!

5) Readers - Without readers, this blog wouldn't exist! My readers are the primary reason why I'm blogging. The first thing I do in the morning is to check my current visitor count and RSS subscriber numbers and I'm ecstatic every time I see those numbers go up. I'm happy to receive feedback from my readers (positive or negative), nothing helps me improve my blog as much as my their critique and suggestions! I'd trade $1000 of my blog's revenue for just 100 new readers!

I was browsing through ReviewMe marketplace the other day looking for something worth writing about and I wasn't intrigued by the available offers, that is until I found an interesting logo design site called Logo Tree. I find it worth mentioning because it looks to me like they offer a wide variety of high quality services, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't have a deep enough pocket to acquire its services (I'll talk more about that later in the article). Now let's get on with the review...

What is Logo Tree?

Logo Tree Design is a company that provides its clients with unique customized graphic logos and other related services realized by a number of experienced designers. The company has been in business since 1996 and it's providing services through its official website since 2000. As you would suspect from a site specialized in design, their site has a simple, yet catchy design and what's more important - you can easily find everything you need from the home page, no confusion guaranteed.

What services does Logo Tree exactly offer?

1) Logo Design

If you have a company or a website and you don't have a logo to go along with it (you know, like Nike's swoosh or McDonald's golden arches), Logo Tree can create a shinny new logo for you. Here are some logo samples I liked:

Take logo design for example - there are 5 order packages valued from $585 to $2,845. It may sound silly, but I believe that $2,845 package is actually a lot more cost effective than $585 package. Why? Because you not only get a logo, you also get a slogan, stationery and a full website design included in the price. For $585 you only get a logo and that's a huge price comparing to $150 package I found on another logo design website.

Website design is also quite expensive for my taste with prices ranging from $1,765 to $4,140. I'm sure you could pay an equally good designer to design your site for a much lower price.

I was quite surprised to see that Logo Tree has an ugly designed blog hosted on Blogger, and it only has 3 posts to date. As a blogger, I'm a little disappointed to see that a professional design company such as Logo Tree would turn a blind eye on the potential of blogging. I would suggest Logo Tree to add a professional blogger to their team. After all, the Blogosphere is slowly taking over the internet!

Agloco Viewbar Comming Soon... Maybe Not... Well, It's Possible... Who Knows!

According to Agloco's official blog, the Viewbar is in its final testing stages and it shouldn't be long before it becomes available to the public. It all looks assuring but I don't believe that a lot of people believe that Agloco will meet the next deadline set for Viewbar's release, even the greatest fans started to lose faith. Personally, I'm not a lover or a hater of Agloco - I chose to be neutral and see if Agloco will manage to make money or not before I take sides (you won't see Agloco referral links on this blog for the time being). This is why I'd like to see the Viewbar in action as soon as possible and it's probably why I jumped the gun over 3 weeks ago. I was scrolling through the comments section of a blog i visit regularly and I felt a sudden need to check out every single commenter's site (there were about 40 of them). I didn't do that because I was bored or had nothing better to do, I did it because I was interested where the author's signature link would lead me. Well, I was surprised to find out that every signature led me to the authors home page! Why do I find this weird? I'll answer that with another question - Why would you link directly to your home page when you can link to a specific page, duh? If you still don't understand what I'm saying, you will once you read the following tips:

1) Link to your Top Post!

I'm sure you like all the posts on your blog, but there must be a post you liked the most, and what's more important - a post your readers loved and linked to! Note that people who click on your link will usually be your first time visitors, so why don't you make a great first impression on them?! By linking to your Top Post, you'll increase your link popularity and get more regular readers to your blog.

2) Link to a Contest page!

Are you running a contest on your blog? If you are, you probably have your own ways of advertising it, but it wouldn't hurt you to include a link to it in your comment signature. You'll surely get more entrants!

3) Link to your Link-Loving Project!

I use this to promote my Technorati Favorites Exchange and Feed My Feed projects. Using this strategy will surely help you increase your link count and visitors.

4) Link to your About page!

This tip is not applicable to everyone. Link to your About page only if it really kicks-ass and by that I mean it's well written, highly descriptive and very personal so you can grab your visitor's attention.

5) Link to your Affiliate page!

If you're a member of an affiliate program, why don't you link to your affiliate page? You may be using banners in your sidebars or under-above-inside posts or whatever, but the best way for you to generate referrals is to send your readers to a page that effectively describes the rewards of joining that particular program. By linking to your affiliate page, you'll increase your referrals and of course - you'll make more money!

How Accurate Is Alexa? - Poll Results

This poll went on for over a month and now it's finally over. I'm not very satisfied with only 99 votes during that period, but I guess a lot of people don't stress over their traffic to care about Alexa at all. Now let's see what Blog About Money Online readers think about Alexa:

19% of voters either don't know how Alexa ranking functions or they don't know what Alexa is at all. For those who don't know - Alexa is a search engine/website traffic ranking tool/web directory. This poll was about Alexa's website traffic ranking tool.

Everyone who voted 'it's totally precise' (9 people) is absolutely wrong, not just because we're talking about Alexa, but because you'll hardly ever find a program that's totally accurate.

About 42% of people are highly disappointed with Alexa and find it to be totally unreliable and basically useless. Well, I don't agree or disagree with them so I'm going to side with 'it's fairly close' group.

I found the best description of Alexa Traffic Ranking in a forum post. It goes like this:

''Alexa is fairly accurate for probably top 10K sites due to large sample size. It gets less and less accurate as you move down.

Lets say one site has a ranking of 1,230,000 and the other one is 900,000 - this means NOTHING.''

There's really not much more to be said about Alexa, it's quite accurate for sites with high traffic and it's very imprecise for sites with low traffic.

Alexa is also quite susceptible to fraud. You can use redirects, bots, install the Alexa toolbar and manically refresh your pages etc.

I'm sure that the title confuses you and makes you wonder how you could possibly learn something about making money from a bunch of people who sleep in a box. Well, before you get judgmental, you should know that not all people end up in the streets just because they bankrupted. However, one thing is sure - they're all doing a great job keeping themselves alive!

Homeless people don't have cell phones, Armani suits, steady jobs or fancy offices, but they can still teach you a thing or two about making money. Read, watch and learn!

1) Be Original

When you want to attract audience, be unique! Having a different approach than others will increase your sales, or in this case, donations. When you advertise a service, product or whatever, you have to raise peoples interest, make them think!

By saying original, I mean you don't want to copy someone else's idea:

2) Choose The Best Place To Advertise

This guy may have never seen a computer in his life, but the people he's trying to get money from surely have! He is collecting cash in a modern neighborhood populated by young people who understand the humor in www.sparechange.com - and reward it. What do you think, how much cash would this guy make in a neighborhood resided mainly by people whose grandchildren were born before internet was even invented?

You have to know where you want to advertise or sell your product/service! For example, you wouldn't want to sell snowmobiles in California, or ice cream in the North pole.. Do some research first!

3) Target Specific Audience

This homeless Klingon is going to the annual Star Trek convention, I guess he doesn't know it's not honorable for a Klingon to beg for food. Nevertheless, he will be well fed by a number of merciful trekkers.

You need to know who you're selling your product/service to in order to maximize your profit.

4) Be Honest

I don't think I need to say much about this one - People appreciate honesty and are willing to reward it, no matter what you're selling!

If you offer more than you can deliver, you'll eventually find yourself facing a lot of enemies. So instead of just talking, make your product/service as good as you say it is!

5) Work Around The Clock

This is by far the most valuable moneymaking lesson homeless people can teach you. There are no holidays or vacations for homeless people, they work around the clock. If you really want to make good money in your life, learn how to work without complaining on your low salary, small office, nervous boss, slow company car and start working your ass off - every day! Real success can only be accomplished through hard work (unless you're a prince or Paris Hilton)!

Get Reviewed By Blog About Money Online

I totally forgot I've been running this blog for 3 months now. Luckily, I remembered this morning when I received an email from ReviewMe accepting me into their publisher program. Now you can get reviewed by this blog for a small fee of $40. As you may already know, that is the lowest review price available on ReviewMe.

I couldn't have picked the better time to get accepted into the program due to ReviewMe's new moneymaking feature that will (on a certain level) compete with PayPerPost. ReviewMe just released a brand new advertiser marketplace that will allow bloggers to choose offers, blog about them and get paid.

This will highly benefit less established bloggers because instead of waiting for picky advertisers, they'll be able to freely choose from a number of offers on the ReviewMe marketplace. As I'm writing this post there are about 5 available campaigns ranging from $5 to $12.5. One of the $5 review offers is for poker tables and supplies (well, I surely won't follow up on that one). Nevertheless, the program has just started so you could expect loads of offers and even higher payout rates once the program kicks off and attracts more advertisers.

This is a great improvement on behalf of ReviewMe and smaller bloggers relationship. They're still not even close to PayPerPost in that perspective, however, they're catching up quickly. I'm very curious to see the further development of ReviewMe and PayPerPost's response.

Google Page Rank Update!

I surely picked a bad time when I wanted to quit blogging and now I'm glad I didn't! Blog About Money Online finally has a Google Page Rank (if you don't count the previous one - 0). My new Google PR is 4, a modest but promising rank and I'm quite happy I got it for as much as 2 and a half months of not so aggressive link building. I guess I was more busy helping others to get a high PR.

There are some valuable aspects to having a solid PR like:

getting a (slightly) better position in Google search listings.

increasing your site's value in some moneymaking programs like Text Link Ads.

getting trust from people who judge your site solely by its PR (looking cool in their Google Toolbar).

easier link exchanging.

laughing at webmasters that have a lower PR than you.

Now that you know the benefits of having a high PR, start working on your own PR because you have just 3 months until the next update.

Unless you're a first time visitor, a visually challenged person or just to lazy to care, you'll notice that this blog has a totally new design and, in my opinion, it looks much better than the old one. However, I'm not satisfied with the header. I previously used it and it fitted the old themes quite nicely, but now it's not good enough and it has to go...

My first idea was to create the new header myself, but then I figured why would I do that when I can make a contest out of it. I'll let you create a header for me and win a prize measured in pure traffic, and that prize is:

The Guest Blogging Begins...

I wanted to thank Alex for that warm welcome, now I really don't even need to bore you with who I am, or where I came from.

After seeing the possible opportunity to guest blog here, I jumped at the chance. I don't have a "Make Money Online" blog, and I don't claim to have all the answers, no one does. That's why there are so many Make Money bloggers now. I do know however about blogging, and how to implement things that will make you money while blogging.

I read great blogs, and participating in a blog like this one can be very rewarding. Not only can I tell you which tactics work for me about making money, but I can also point you to other money makers as well.

With that being said, I will continue to give link love. Before you can make money, you need to have a good blog, so not only will I be linking to blogs about making money, but also good blogging articles that can help you get to money making status.

I was also thinking of trying something new. It will be along the same lines of "Link Love", but it will be a blogger spotlight. A weekly review of other Money Making Bloggers, so you can learn from them as well. If you think you have a good money making blog, let me know.

I hope to contribute here a few times a week, so if there is anything you would like me to cover, or places I should link, please let me know.

Since I started blogging little less than 3 months ago, I was loving every minute of it - and I still do! So with a lot of sorrow, I have to say these words - my Blog About Money Online adventure has come to an end...

I have encountered a personal issue that will prevent me to devote enough time to blogging. I'm not going to tell you what the issue is, I'll only tell you that it's not health related, so don't worry about me. However, you'll still see me visiting blogs and forums and leaving comments, I'll manage to find some time for that.

I'll also be on the lookout for content stealers (copycats), but I'll be glad if you adapt the concept of Daily Link Love because I'm unable to continue it.

The Ultimate Blogger's Choice Awards Vote Exchange

I had lot of fun participating in Dosh Dosh's Ultimate Technorati Favorites Exchange Experiment and have also enjoyed my own edition of Technorati Favorites Exchange. Maki's program turned viral in no time and generated a lot of buzz in the Blogosphere, and it provided me with a few juicy linkbacks!

I'm starting a Dosh Dosh like experiment to see if getting a high number of votes on Blogger's Choice Awards could boost my traffic.

Blogger's Choice Awards started less than a month ago but it's already visited by thousands of readers every day, so I believe that It has a potential to generate a solid amount of traffic, especially if you win the first prize. There are 35 nomination categories on Blogger's Choice Awards and I have been nominated in 4 of them, but I'll try to get on the nominees front page in just one category - The Best Marketing Blog.

The reason why I'm going for this category is that a low number of votes is needed to get on the category front page, which is about a dozen. I find that a quickest way I could achieve that is through vote exchange

AdBux - New Get Paid To Surf Program

AdBux is a new English based advertising program that pays you get to view advertisements. AdBux is free to join and it's (currently) available only to PayPal users. The minimum payout $5.

The process of earning money is quite simple. Currently, there are 5-20 websites being advertised on Adbux. You make money by visiting websites for at least 15 seconds. AdBux will pay you $0.01 for each website you visit (you can't visit one website more than once in 24 hours). $0.01 is not much, but it could be if you get enough referrals. There's only one referral level which means that you can only refer directly, but the commission rate is a whopping $0.01. Yes, you make 100% of your referrals earning.

Let's say you visit 20 websites every day. You'd make just $0.2. Now let's say 20 of your referrals visit 20 websites each. You'd make $4. And that's not all, read this paragraph from AdBux:

"While we have no way of knowing how many ads will be available on a per week basis, we do know that AdBux is growing rapidly and advertisers are discovering the true potential of our service. We've just started and our advertiser base is small so BE PATIENT! Over the next coming months you will see an increase in the ads which will only increase your earnings! Our goal is to soon have 80-100 active advertisers, which will give you plenty of clicks!"

Imagine that there are 100 advertisers on AdBux and you have just 10 active referrals visiting those 100 websites. That's $10 per day! And why would you stop at 10 referrals? You could refer 100 or more people and then count your income..

Sounds amazing, ha? Yes, so it's necessary to check for a possibility that AdBux is a scam. Let's take a look at the payment process:

AdBux charges advertisers $2.73 for 100 member visits. We'll analyze the cheapest payment package - 10,000 visits for $206.28 (that's $30.72 discount). Let's say that there are currently 20 advertisers on AdBux. Now we'll multiply $206.28 by 20. That's $4,125 in AdBuxe's account. Now we have to figure what amount of that $4,125 will go to the members.

I'll remind you that the numbers we're dealing with are 10,000 visits for $206.28 multiplied by 20, so we'll say that there are 10,000 active members at AdBux. Now we'll say that all of the 10,000 members visit all 20 websites. We multiply 10,000 members with $0.01 commission rate and 20 advertisers (10,000x$0.01x20). The result is $2,000 and that's well in within the $4,125 mark. But we're still not done calculating. We haven't calculated the referral commissions.

We know that there's a one level referral system which means that a great deal of those 10,000 members receive more than $0.01 per visit. But because of the one level referral system the total member earnings can't be more than double the the amount we calculated so far. Its also theoretically impossible that all of the 10,000 members have referrals. Nevertheless, we'll calculate as if all of the members have referrals. We multiply $2,000 with 2 and the final result is $4,000.

The end result is that AdBux profits by $125. Remember, that number would be much bigger if we hadn't calculated the discount and if we hadn't added extra referrals to the equation!

So, what's the final verdict? The system makes money for AdBux as well as for the members, so it's not a scam!

Warning! AdBux has a great potential to make you money, but it may prove harmful if you advertise through it. AdBux is a Get paid to program, so receiving traffic from it violates TOS of advertising programs such as Google AdSense. If you want to advertise on AdBux, make sure it's not against TOS of revenue programs you may be running on your website!

Google AdSense Image Policy

As you may already know, Google is very strict when it comes to AdSense. So if you want to keep yourself from getting banned from AdSense, you have to play 100% by the book. Today I'm going to write about what you may or may not do when it comes to image and AdSense ad placement on your site's pages.

1) The quickest and safest way you can prevent yourself from being banned by Google is to not have any images on your site at all! Well, this is quite simple but it would do you more harm than good. Having images on your site enhances your visitors experience and it makes you look a lot more professional in what you do. After all, a picture is worth a 1000 words, and you certainly don't want to be short on words, especially if you're a blogger!

2) Another way to not get banned from AdSense is to place your images in a way that it doesn't go against AdSense policy.

To avoid Google's fury you mustn't associate images with AdSense ads, which means that your images cannot in anyway be regarded as a part of the AdSense ad. Here's an example of how NOT to place images

Google regards this type of image placement as misleading, meaning that the images represent the product that is being advertised.

You also may not place images next to ads that may lead readers to click on them. Here's an example of that situation

You see that the arrow placed next to the AdSense ad unit urges readers to click on it and thus fraudulently increases your AdSense earnings. However, you can place that same same arrow to another position to avoid breaking Google's image placement policy

This is an example of correct placement of images on the same page as Google ads. This image has absolutely no effect on AdSense ads and it gives no incentive to click on them!

In conclusion, you're not forbidden to place images on the same page as Google AdSense ads as long as they're in no way associated with the ads themselves.

Blog About Money Online - Technorati Favorites Exchange

Maki of Dosh Dosh runs a Technorati Favorites Exchange. He explains it as an interactive experiment to see if getting listed on the Technorati's Most Favorited Blogs list can be a good source of traffic. So far the experiment is going quite well for Maki and it's got him sitting at number 29 at the moment, but he hasn't disclosed the traffic details (yet). It's still early to tell.

These Technorati favorite exchanges have been going on for a long time now, so don't think Maki invented fire when he started the experiment. I did discover favorites exchange at Dosh Dosh, but after some research I saw that other bloggers, forums and even social bookmarking sites like Stumble Upon held similar exchanges in the past.

This is why I'm starting a Technorati Favorites Exchange program myself. There's nothing original about that but I figure it would benefit you, my readers. Why? Because of two reasons.

The first reason is that the exchange will increase your Technorati Favorite count. Second reason is that I'll link to you. Maki links to those who write a post about Technorati Favorites Exchange with a link to his fave exchange post. I'm not going to be that restrictive, I'll simply link to everyone who faves me, no posts or links needed. (Sounds like Daily Link Love, doesn't it?)

Agloco Viewbar Is Finally Coming!?

To all of you who have been waiting for Agloco to come out of Beta here's some (potentially) good news. I tried to access my account page several times today but the page just couldn't load. There are 2 potential explanations for this problem (correct me if I'm wrong):

1) The site is simply malfunctioning.

2) Agloco is finally releasing the Viewbar and the site cannot be loaded because it's being reconfigured.

Whatever happens, only time will tell if Agloco's members will own their (promised) share of the internet!

The headline says it all. The new paid to program called Fummo is absolutely ridiculous and I'm writing about it just so you don't accidentally fall for it. To give you the full picture, I'll just quote Fummo's admin (I apologize for the bad English):

You see a not so good looking web site and ONLY one Google AdSense ad. Now, After I do some math (400,000 members x $5 per referral), I wonder how will the magnificent Fummo pay $2 million dollars to their members from just one AdSense ad. They won't!

Simple Alexa Toolbar For Mozilla Firefox

As you may already know, Alexa Traffic Ranking is a powerful tool for estimating web site traffic. It's especially important when determining your blog's value on networks such as Text Link Ads or ReviewMe. Now, you know that your blog's Alexa ranking depends on the daily visits and page views. It's just too bad that Alexa counts visits and page views only from users who have the Alexa Toolbar installed on their computers. Wanna help increase your Alexa rank? Get the toolbar and start regularly visiting your blog!

The only problem is that the toolbar for Internet Explorer, however good it functions, takes up too much space and it looks quite intrusive, so I wouldn't suggest you install it. In my opinion, It's just not worth the trouble!

However, the toolbar available to lucky Firefox users is totally non-intrusive and it's (almost) as functional as the IE ugly toolbar. See for yourself.

Little Sport Miracles That Help You Blog

This video is little off money making topic but I figure if you like or even dislike sports (basketball in particular) you'll find this video amusing anyway. This is a clip from NBA's Toronto Raptors and Washingto Wizards game played on March 30. The 3 point shot you're about to see was performed by Toronto's talented player Morris Peterson. Enjoy the amazing video!

You can imagine what happened after, Raptors went on to win it in overtime! Amazing video indeed, but what can it teach you about blogging?

Well, every game in every sport is always a battle of skills and nerves and only the strongest come out as a winners. I look at blogging like a sport, only with chairs and computers, and the whole blogosphere is one giant arena. In that arena there are thousands of skillful bloggers fighting to succeed, but only those who have the nerves of steel come out as true heroes, the ones that make the difference!

What this video can teach you is - If your hopes and dreams hadn't been realized by the time you wanted and your passion for blogging is slowly diminishing, instead of giving up, get up and try harder because you can accomplish anything you've set out to do if you have that extra mental power to keep on going (and winning)!

Effective Google AdSense Ads Adjustment

I adjusted the placement of the Google AdSense ads on my blog. Before I had 2 160x600 wide skyscrapers in the left sidebar. Now, I have 200x200 squares embedded inside the posts. Well, you'd have to be blind not to notice it :).

My present goal is to study how this change reflects on my AdSense revenue. I intend to cross reference my findings with one of my early articles - How To Maximize AdSense Revenue, so I can report back to you with more detailed information on how to make as much money from AdSense as possible. I'll compare my AdSense earnings, CTR and ad impressions from last 30 days to my ernings from 30 days to come, so you should expect the report to be published around this time next month.

If your blog is hosted on Blogger and you'd like to know how to integrate AdSense ads in your blog posts you can do that in 5 minutes. Just follow the instructions in the article Google AdSense ads besides posts in Blogger I fount on Tech Inside. Instructions are very simple but they're missing an important factor. To make the ads show up on your blog, you have to remove the <-- tag from the beginning of the AdSense code.

SlashMySearch News IV

I waited almost a month to bring you the latest developments following my SlashMySearch is in a deep coma news. During that time, SlashMySerach has experienced multiple server outages, but for the last week or so, SlashMySearch is functioning normally and there haven't been any server errors at all. It seems like SlashMySearch server problem is finally over (keeping my fingers crossed).

As for the commissions, they're still very low and the earning potential is down to a minimum. Even with my 52 direct and 25 referrals on the second level, I produced a miserable $0.25 so far in April. After checking my traffic logs, I saw that only 5-10 of my referrals are actually doing something at SlashMySearch. Now that servers are fixed, we could expect commissions to go up significantly in the near future, providing that servers don't go down again.

Google has always kept their ranking algorithms a mystery, so there has been a lot of guessing about how the algorithm functions and what factors are the most important in search engine optimization. Here's a list of what are supposed to be the 10 most important factors of Google SEO:

Google PR - To Spoof Or Not To Spoof?

This one goes under the category Avoiding Scams. Google PR Spoofing is an old trick to get you a high PR without any link building or SEO at all, so why is Spoofing a Scam to Avoid? Because it's Black Hat as it can get, and you don't want to get banned by the most influential search engine in the world! Keep this in mind if some hot-shot 'Internet Guru' offers you an easy way to a high PR.

What is Google PR Spoofing?

Spoofing is a process of getting a high page rank by redirecting your domain via a 302 server header or a "Refresh" meta tag, to a high PR page, which causes your lower PR page to acquire the PR of the destination source page. What happens is that you trick Googlebots into believing that the site you're redirecting to is yours. It's actually quite ironic, because you can redirect to Google and get yourself a shiny new PR 10. Imagine how many of your link exchange offers would be declined after that. You got it - NONE!

Now you would probably like me to show you the whole spoofing process step-by-step, but I'm not going to! I don't support Black Hat techniques, I'm only telling you about Spoofing so you don't get tricked by someone, who'll say it's legit, in the future.

Another reason why you don't want to spoof is that your site will not be indexed by Google as long as you are redirecting the Googlebots to your competitors site, so it’s really only good for link trading.

Speed Up Firefox And IE, That's An Order!

I won’t be surprised if you already viewed this video. It’s been around for a long time and I saw it posted on numerous sites, so you might be wondering why I’m posting this old piece of news?

Well, because I’m sure a lot of people thought that their browsing speed was already high enough so they refused to spend as little as 3 minutes to make it even higher. Believe me, spending a couple of minutes now will save you hours in the future! Watch the video:

The demonstration is moving quite quickly, so use the pause button if you can’t follow it.

Here are some extra tweaks to speed up FireFox:

The video suggests that you set ’network.http.pipelining.maxrequests’ to '10'. I suggest you set it to '30' to get even more speed out of it.

Set ‘network.http.proxy.pipelining’ to ‘true’.

Right-click anywhere in the browser window and select New -> Integer. Name it ‘nglayout.initialpaint.delay’ and set it to '0'. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

As a blogger, I spend a lot of time on networking, researching and other blogging related activities. This forces me to work in several tabs or browsers at a time, which ultimately slows down my computer’s response. Thanks to these simple tweaks, today I manage to do more work in significantly less time.

Note - These tweaks work only with broadband connection, if you're on dial-up you won't find these tweaks useful.
